Chesapeake Career Center
The Chesapeake Career Center is part of the Chesapeake Public School System in Virginia. Chesapeake Career Center is the oldest career and technical school in the Commonwealth, established in September of 1967. Originally called the Chesapeake Center for Science and Technology (CCST) the Career Center offers Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs for students to explore a wide range of high-wage, high-skill, high-demand career pathways. The center serves students from all seven high schools in Chesapeake.
K4AMG got its start at the Chesapeake Career Center mentoring students taking the Broadcast Radio class. The club formed the W4FOS Chesapeake Center for Science and Technology High School Amateur Radio Club in 2009. K4AMG mentoring and the W4FOS club operations are currently suspended at the center since the Broadcast Radio class has been dropped from its curriculum. Our club is actively pursuing the city to reinstate the Broadcast Radio class.
The Chesapeake Public Service radio station WFOS, 88.7 FM, continues to broadcast from the center. Listen to WFOS on your FM radio or Google "WFOS" and tune in live streaming.
