Waterways Heritage Festival

October 14 - 15, 2017

The club had a great time at this year's festival and met a lot of great Mars Generation kids along with their parents and grandparents.  The festival provided us the opportunity to present Amateur Radio as a vital communications resource during emergencies and special events.  We showed how Amateur Radio is a fun hobby and a great technical tool to learn and possibly pursue a great career in electronics and wireless communications.

The club held a drawing at the festival for a copy of Craig Buck’s, K4IA “The Easy Way!” series book “Pass Your Amateur Radio Technician Class Test”.
T
he winner is Lauren Roque.  Lauren is a ten-year-old from the Western Branch section of Chesapeake.  She attends Western Branch Intermediate School where she enjoys taking History and Art classes.  Lauren is a dedicated Girl Scout and enjoys biking and a good jump on a trampoline.

This year’s booth featured a live-Doppler Effect demonstration, an OSCAR satellites and International Space Station (ISS)orbital display, a HF portable station,  a CW Practice Key, and a Squishy Dough circuit display.
